Note in Figure 3 the spotter assists in the lift. The first stage is removing the bar from the rack, here the spotter assists the player using an alternate grip on the bar. The player then completes the prescribed reps and at the end the spotter assists in returning the bar to the racked position. Note the spotter’s role is to supervise and assist during the lift should the player not be able to press from the chest to the rack.
