Corrective exercise strategies

Summary

We noted the importance of completing mobility or flexibility promoting strategies when the player has a restricted ROM. Starting with self-myofascial release techniques, then following with active static stretches, the player can make god gains in improving ROM in tight muscle groups. Note that these are seen as part of a programme for corrective strategies and while they may be used as part of a training unit warm-up they are aimed at improving the individual player’s mobility or flexibility limitations.

During our ‘Resistance training’ module, you will find several stability and strengthening exercises that will add to the corrective strategy programme.
