Practical speed-related drills

Mechanics and acceleration drills

Speed mechanics and acceleration drills are illustrated here in video format. Please note that the ‘march’ and ‘skip’ drills can become part of the latter stages of a thorough warm-up. The ‘wall drive’ drill can also be included in a warm-up. Coaching of these basic speed and acceleration mechanics is important.

The ‘partner resistance’ drill and the ‘maximum acceleration’ drills should only be performed following a thorough warm-up.
