Active recovery

Surprisingly, the evidence supporting an active recovery such as cycling following intense exercise is limited. One study has reported that stationary cycling following match play is equally effective in enhancing recovery compared to contrast therapy and wearing compression garments (Gill et al, 2005). In this particular study, Rugby players completed a low intensity cycle bout for seven minutes before carrying out their normal post-match routine.
